Spending birthday at the beach is an amazing experience. Early morning beach with sound of waves allows sometimes to think and reflect. After the walk, I decided to pen down few things…

Thanks to nearly 5 years spent during my childhood, I have special place in my heart for Konkan. But the Konkan I grew up and todays are slightly different. But that’s the case with most things in life! E.g., while growing up we were constantly told don’t accept food from strangers. But looking at my Zomato and Swiggy order history, I have forgotten that lesson! We were also told not to get in a car with stranger. But first thing we did after going down at train station is book an Uber!! Limited point I am trying to make is world I grew up in has changed a lot and I need to adapt and change to make life easier…

As I was strolling on the beach on Saturday morning there were no headphones / headset. So, this was quiet time to reflect on previous year and review things. This helped think through the year and analyze ups and downs. So, here are few thoughts on the past year –

  1. One of the most stratifying things – I was able to get back to reading. In 2024, I read 12 books and in 2025, I have managed to finish 5 till date. Another advantage of this- it has helped develop reading habit for my daughter. She is the newest member of bookworm club.
  2. Along with reading, I have also developed a hobby of listening to various podcasts. They are a great source of information and inspiration. Recently I heard Luis Miranda on Barbershop with Shantanu. Mr. Miranda spoke about role of family and friends in your success. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have lot of great people in my life that have helped every stage of my life.
  3. One of the biggest wins for me was controlling anxiety! This was achieved with help of 2 of the nicest and talented family members who also happen to be brilliant psychiatrist. With their professional experience they guided me to fix things.
  4. One of the things I need to work on is to channelize anger. Combination of anxiety and getting older has made me bit more grumpier. Need to address it!
  5. Another thing I need to work on is to spend more time with my family and not drive them crazy (a tough ask)!

Let’s see how things span out.
